Social networking is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as: "A dedicated website or other application that enables users to communicate with each other by posting information, comments, messages, images, etc." We are going to learn about some of the issues involved with using Social Networks in the "Life Online" Quest. This will help you to make good decisions about establishing social networks and using them to be productive as well as having fun safely.
Introduction
In this Quest, you will learn how students are using social networks and other online sites to share personal information. This information will help you to make some decisions about what kinds of online behavior is appropriate for social networking sites.

Steps:
1. To get started click here and create an account or follow your teacher's directions for logging into PBS Learning Media . If your teacher has created an account, he/she will give you login directions. You can view three activities without signing up for an account, so follow your teacher's directions for accessing the activity.
2. After creating your account click here to access the learning activity called Life Online.
3. Read or view the videos on the nine pages which open in a separate window.
4. Use this template document as you proceed through the life online lessons.
Completing this Quest
If you have an account in PBS Learning Media you can click on REVIEW YOUR WORK when finished with the ninth page and reflect on what you just learned. You can copy and paste out of PBS Learning Media as needed. Save the template document or screenshot to your File Space and share it with your teacher. You will use the information you gathered today when you post to your classroom social network.
